Studium BI Products
Summary

Studium launched 3 peripheral products, which were BI dashboards for Universities, to go along with it's core product. My role- I initiated the concept of these products, worked on their design, and later, a go-to-market strategy for the same. These products gave Studium a foot in the door with new clients, as its core product was high-ticket and had a long sales cycle.

Problem Statement
Universities are not aware of how prepared they are when applying for any accreditation. They have a lot of data about their operations and achievements but they have no methods to derive valuable insights out of it. Data is not compiled or stored properly, and often handled by multiple persons in different departments. They know about student and faculty performance on an individual level but not on a university scale. Thus, decision-making is also random and not data-backed.
Objectives
1. To centralize data into one place for all stakeholders to view and analyze.
2. To make decision-makers aware of their standing on a University scale, not just on an individual level.
3. To equip University management and faculty with better insights for decision-making.
4. To give them a clear view of their accreditation-readiness before they apply for any accreditation.
Solution
A dashboard which showed critical datapoints in real-time, consolidating data from different sources and helping them derive valuable insights, leading to better decision-making. After some research, we finalized on a dashboard structure for 3 verticals- NIRF Accreditation, Research and Alumni. It also solved a critical problem for Studium from a business POV. Studium's core product was high-ticket, with a 6 months long sales cycle involving approvals from the different levels of hierarchy like the IQAC Director, Board, etc. This new dashboard product was relatively low-cost, getting us into the clients eco-system and starting with something small before they committed to a larger, costlier product. This got us into their ecosystem without needing 6 months to close a client.
Design Process
-
Initial Research: Understanding the current problems from different levels of stakeholders. We also talked with domain experts to fast-track this process. Found out that NIRF, Research and Alumni are the domains that we can add value in.
-
Design & Structuring: We worked on finalizing the domains in which we can add value by creating a dashboard product. Also decided on Google Looker Studio as the platform to build the product.
-
Testing & Iterating: We tested the products using publicly available data from sources like Google Scholar and Linkedin. We released it as a small pilot with a few clients.
-
Go-to-market: Structured a GTM strategy for this set of products to shorten the sales cycle and complement the hero product.
-
Launch: Launched the dashboards as standalone products to existing and new clients.
